Teradata just rolled out a new solution that promises to introduce real-time data from SAP ERP applications into enterprise analytic and reporting apps. Dubbed Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions, these new capabilities work to help enterprises find the business value buried in enterprise resource planning apps.

Simply stated, Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions automatically captures and serves the most current data from SAP ERP applications, then blends it with any non-SAP data stored in an Integrated Data Warehouse (IDW). The result: a wider swath of users can tap into the power of Teradata’s in-database processing at in-memory speeds for reporting, advanced analytics and ad-hoc analysis.

“Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions is a fast, ready-to-use solution that can be deployed in a matter of weeks to support more agile data-driven business decisions,” said Scott Gnau, president of Teradata Labs. “By providing access to integrated data in near real-time we’re enabling our customers to make data from SAP ERP applications usable for business intelligence across the enterprise.”

A Case Study

After the data is integrated in the Teradata IDW, users can leverage more than 150 out-of-the-box Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions dashboards and standardized business reports. Key categories include spending analysis, financial accounting and manufacturing operations. Enterprise users can also access more than 1,000 SAS Institute, Fuzzy Logix, and R in-database analytic functions that run at in-memory speed and self-generate custom reports.

Practically speaking, that means companies like Blokker, a Teradata customer and Netherlands-based chain store, can streamline operations over its 15 chains in 12 countries and better manage 2,500 stores. Blokker was finding it difficult to get an enterprise-wide picture of global expenses and sales because business data on each brand it sells is stored in completely independent IT systems.

Using Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions, Blokker developed and executed a centralized, corporate strategy and designed a repeatable process to bring together the data across all 15 of its ERP systems and other business data in a single data warehouse. Blokker expects a significant impact on sales and spend with improved visibility into orders, revenues, and margins.

“Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions was able to deliver financial, operational, and commercial insights across our brands,” said Tjerk Bancken, architect at Blokker. “Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions is a fast and flexible integrated solution, offering lower project risk, faster development, an integrated semantic model and direct access to detailed data.”

Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions is available worldwide and is compatible with Teradata Database 13.10 and later.

New Co-Presidents

This release comes less than a month after Teradata appointed Bob Fair and Hermann Wimmer as co-presidents. Fair is leading the Teradata Marketing Applications Division and Wimmer is leading the Teradata Data and Analytics Division.

“The appointment of Bob Fair and Hermann Wimmer as co-presidents is an important step in taking advantage of our broader market opportunities, and I am confident in their ability to help drive Teradata forward,” said Mike Koehler, CEO of Teradata. “Aligning resources into these divisions will better position Teradata to serve our customers and accelerate revenue growth.”
