Leading file sharing service Hightail (formerly YouSendIt) today announced that its new Asia Pacific (APAC) Headquarters in Melbourne, Australia, is open for business
Hightail’s new Australia presence will initially focus on sales and technical support and the company anticipates creating up to 20 new jobs in the region over the coming years.
Becoming the only world-class file services company with a base in Australia is a major part of Hightail’s international expansion plans. Of the 45 million professionals currently using Hightail for secure
, online file sharing and storage, 60% are based outside the U.S. and the firm believes APAC is primed for significant growth.
“It’s an exciting time for the Asia Pacific region with key economies showing solid year on year growth,” explained Hightail’s new APAC region leader Kevin Mackin. “Australia is the perfect springboard for Hightail’s regional expansion as it provides a very stable environment politically and economically -- as well as a strong pool of IT talent.”
Hightail already has more than 600,000 users and 125 corporate accounts including Woods Bagot, Tennis Australia, City of Melbourne, Tourism Australia, Myer, Hydro Tasmania and BlueScope Steel. Mackin -- who as General Manager at Coremetrics and WebEx helped both these major global brands build a strong regional presence -- believes the company’s local team will help it better serve the ever-changing needs of new and existing customers.
“Hightail is keen to work closely with our customers in this region to define a new platform-agnostic approach to finding, accessing and sharing data
across all platforms,” he noted. “As individuals, businesses and governments continue to create massive volumes of data online, there is the need to securely share and manage this information -- even though it may reside on multiple platforms and multiple devices. And, while many technology companies want to lock you into their proprietary data systems, the CIOs we work with want to maintain secure control over their workflows and ecosystems -- we help them achieve this.”
Hightail’s key benefits for customers include easy insights and tracking of file access, along with a formidable focus on data protection
and control. Hightail also seamlessly integrates with widely used business applications, including Microsoft
Outlook, SharePoint and Salesforce.
All Hightail subscribers get unlimited storage making it possible to securely access and share all their files from anywhere in the world using Hightail’s iPhone, iPad and Android apps. In fact, Australians are the world’s second highest users of Hightail’s Android app.
Founded in 2004, Hightail (formerly YouSendIt) was working in the cloud before the term was even coined. At first the service was a simple way to send the large attachments that email couldn’t process, but has since grown to offer robust online sharing, storage and file management capabilities. Today, the company serves more than 45 million registered users across 193 countries and 98 percent of the Fortune 500. Hightail offers services in 6 languages to suit the needs of its global customers.
